Speaker on the convergence of talent and technology and its impact on the future of the global workforce and education. Young Global Leader, World Economic Forum. Interests: using technology to disrupt how we learn at scale and the return to community.
"Generation Y need a new solution to regain their confidence in the Public system. There is nothing more engaging than social networking platforms such as Facebook with almost half a billion members. Is there some way we could have a new global public interest group based on the views of the digital generation? We could use social media en masse to engage the views of the next generation and find the voices of change. This seems like an easier step to take than trying to set up a global representation of Public sector interest.
In a way we achieved the beginnings of this with BraveNewTalent's social recruiting outreach for One Young World. We used the BraveNewTalent platform and Facebook to engage 100,000 young people in 140 countries. This resulted in 2,500 outstanding individuals putting themselves forward as a voice for the next generation. In February 2010 more than 800 young leaders from over 100 countries gathered for what was the world's largest youth leadership summit.
My conclusion: when 51 of the world's 100 largest economies are companies and 49 are countries we have seen a shifting paradigm in the power of the Private sector. Are we facing a dangerous imbalance of power? What role does the rise of social business have to play to resolve this imbalance? As a young entrepreneur I am a capitalist through and through. However, I do believe we need to develop a global culture of responsible capitalism – where every business takes responsibility for the implications of its impact on society and the environment. We live in a precarious and changing world – without strong leadership in both the private and public sector we will all face something more serious than a crisis.
The Astor Family How many of these schemes,
The Astor family achieved prominence in business, society, and politics in the United States and the United Kingdom during the 19th and 20th centuries. With ancestral roots in the Italian Alps,[1] the Astors settled in Germany, first appearing in North America in the 18th century with John Jacob Astor, one of the wealthiest people in history.

"As I've spent more time in ritual and prayer to honour my ancestors, I've learnt a great deal about my own life and legacy. In my prayers, I often enter a council of my ancestors guiding my choices and actions.
I don't believe it is random that my seventh generation grandparents are Catherine The Great, Empress of Russia and John Jacob Astor.
It is not random that every one of my ancestral lines made their mark on history.
The more I listen the more I can hear the music of my family. When we recognise the music we can dance to its melody. I believe the answer to bridging the chasm between left and right politics and win-lose finite games is to go back in time in order to go forwards. I believe if more of us could connect to our ancestry and history we could connect with our future. The ancient and the future are kismetly entwined. This is something every indigenous tradition has known and practised intimately. As Ram Dass said 'We're all just walking each other home'."

British Entrepreneur named Europe’s youngest Young Global Leader (YGL) by World Economic Forum
London, UK, 3 March 2010 –
Lucian Tarnowski, founder and CEO of BraveNewTalent (www.bravenewtalent.com), a website that connects people to employers via a social network, has been named among the Young Global Leaders for 2010 by the World Economic Forum. At the age of 26, he is the youngest YGL in Europe.
The honour, bestowed each year by the Forum, recognizes and acknowledges up to 200 outstanding young leaders from around the world for their professional accomplishments, commitment to society and potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world.
For 2010, the Forum has selected 197 Young Global Leaders (http://www.weforum.org/docs/YGL/YGL2010_Honourees.pdf) from 72 countries and all stakeholders of society. This year’s European YGLs include Roger Federer, professional tennis player; and Stella McCartney, fashion designer.
As founder of BraveNewTalent.com, Lucian Tarnowski (www.luciantarnowski.com) has dedicated his entrepreneurial energy to building connections between young people and potential employers. His website aims to bring employers and potential candidates closer together using the power of social media. Lucian, who was named Global Enterprising Young Brit in 2009, spends much of his time promoting entrepreneurship among young people. He also runs a youth-run charity called (www.takeheartindia.org) that aims to provide IT education to blind and disabled students.
Commenting on his award, Lucian said: “Becoming a YGL has been a dream of mine since the first time I heard about it. I have always joked saying that I had 14 more years to prove myself for it! Never did I expect to receive this wonderful honour at the age of 26. I will work hard to represent the interests and future of other young people at the Forum.”
The 2010 honourees will become part of the broader Forum of Young Global Leaders community that currently comprises 660 outstanding individuals. The YGLs convene at an annual summit as well as at Forum events and meetings throughout the year.

Young global leaders a WEF cult
Becoming a YGL is an opportunity and a commitment. Each new class embarks on a five-year leadership journey that mobilizes their collective talents and accelerates action aimed at tackling societal, political and environmental challenges. Our goal is to create transformative experiences for next-generation leaders that enhance their skills, broaden their world view, and lead to groundbreaking initiatives.
Discover
YGLs participate in executive courses at top institutions, gaining fresh insights and practical training in areas such as public policy, energy and environment, and responsible leadership.
Encounter
YGLs come together at summits, workshops and field expeditions where creative solutions and joint ventures are sparked. Exposure to new perspectives instils empathy and a sense of shared responsibility at a key juncture in their careers.
Innovate
YGLs are motivated by one another and the joint leadership journey on which they embark. The dynamic YGL Community challenges them to think and act in ways they may have never imagined individually. Diversity triggers innovation.
The journey continues
When YGLs have completed the five-year programme, they are invited to join the Alumni Community, where they can continue their leadership journey and maintain their engagement with the World Economic Forum as well as YGL activities and events
Alumni serve as stewards of the Forum of Young Global Leaders, supporting the selection process and acting as valuable mentors to new members. Our alumni are crucial to our ongoing success, often providing support and guidance to new collaborations and helping to promote the impact-oriented mindset of the community.
